The new terminal building at Pune Airport has made significant progress, with security clearance already obtained and awaiting floor clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). The introduction of an ‘in-line baggage checking system’ at the new terminal is a notable development aimed at enhancing passenger experience and efficiency. This system, commonly seen at major airports like Delhi and Mumbai, is designed to streamline the check-in process and reduce passengers’ waiting time.
Santosh Dhoke, the Director of Pune Airport, highlighted the ongoing efforts to secure necessary approvals and permissions to commence operations at the new terminal. With security clearance secured from BCAS and awaiting floor clearance, along with the allocation of 231 CISF personnel, the airport is poised to initiate phase-wise operations within the next few days once these requirements are met.
The implementation of the in-line baggage checking system at Pune Airport’s new terminal signifies a proactive approach to accommodate the increasing passenger traffic efficiently. This system is expected to optimize the check-in process, aligning with the airport’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and passenger convenience. The thorough testing of all systems post-migration from the old terminal to the new terminal will ensure a seamless transition, with passenger traffic anticipated to commence within the next 10 to 15 days.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal building at Pune Airport on March 10, setting the stage for improved facilities and services. The upcoming introduction of the in-line baggage checking system and the overall advancements at the new terminal underscore the airport’s dedication to providing a modern and efficient travel experience for passengers, addressing past challenges and enhancing operational standards for a seamless journey.
