Reimagining Airport Signage with Sustainable LED Innovation

Mac Gangam, President, Shenzhen Atenti Technologies Co., Ltd

“As India’s airport infrastructure grows, IPTS 2025 offers the perfect platform for us to introduce global best practices in LED display innovation. From high-resolution and transparent screens to our energy-efficient Lens on Board technology, we aim to set new benchmarks for immersive and sustainable digital experiences in Indian terminals.”

In this interview, Mac Gangam, President of Shenzhen Atenti Technologies, talks about the evolving future of digital signage in aviation, and how Atenti’s custom-built, energy-efficient LED display solutions are powering airports across the globe—from Qatar to Heathrow.

Q1. Your company specializes in custom-built LED display solutions. How do you ensure a balance between advanced technology, excellent visual quality, and durability while catering to diverse client needs?

We integrate advanced technologies like microLEDs, Lens on Board (LOB), high-refresh-rate drivers, and low power consumption systems to deliver outstanding performance. Our displays are built using robust enclosures and weatherproof designs for durability in varied conditions. Every solution is tailored—modular panels, flexible sizes, and diverse control systems—so clients get exactly what they need. Plus, smart features like auto-brightness and efficient cooling systems help optimize energy use.

Q2. With India’s increasing adoption of digital signage, what are the key growth opportunities for your company in the aviation market specifically?

There’s a significant shift toward smart terminals and digital passenger engagement. We see strong potential in digital flight information displays, wayfinding kiosks, and immersive advertising screens in lounges and terminals. Large-format video walls for operations control, outdoor LED signage, and branded digital platforms are also major focus areas—creating both functional and revenue-generating value for airports.

Q3. Your products are designed to be energy-efficient and long-lasting. How do these sustainability features benefit clients, and how is your company working towards further innovations in eco-friendly LED technology?

Energy efficiency lowers operational costs and ensures minimal downtime and maintenance, while also supporting green compliance goals. Our Lens on Board technology, for example, offers up to 40–50% lower power consumption compared to traditional LED screens. We’re continuing R&D into eco-friendly materials, intelligent power management, and recyclable components to align with global airport sustainability initiatives.

Q4. Providing end-to-end project management is a key differentiator for your brand. Can you share an example of a successful project where your turnkey approach made a significant impact at an airport?

A standout project was at Hamad International Airport in Qatar, where we delivered high-performance LED displays through a seamless end-to-end implementation. The airport required energy-efficient, custom-shaped screens with minimal installation disruption. We met strict sustainability requirements and successfully integrated and tested the displays without affecting operations. Ongoing maintenance is backed by remote monitoring and full lifetime support.

Q5. With advancements in AI-driven content management, interactive displays, and higher-resolution LED technology, where do you see the future of LED display solutions at airports heading, and how is your company preparing for these changes?

AI is transforming digital signage. We envision displays that respond to real-time passenger flow, deliver personalized content via mobile and facial recognition (opt-in), and improve navigation. We’re investing in AI-integrated CMS, interactive displays, and new formats like MicroLED, MiniLED, and transparent screens. These technologies will redefine how passengers interact with their environment—smarter, faster, and more engaging.

Q6. Why do you think IPTS 2025 is important for your industry? What products do you plan to showcase?

IPTS 2025 is a milestone event—India’s first passenger terminal show and a gateway to a booming market. It allows us to connect with key stakeholders and showcase our international airport expertise. We’re bringing high-resolution LED displays, transparent and flexible screens, and our standout Lens on Board technology—capable of 10,000 nits brightness with 40–50% lower energy consumption. It’s the future of immersive, sustainable airport signage.
